I am a retired (2017) Secondary School Science Teacher for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and most recently (January-June 2019) part-time, contract Professor of Math for Canadore College in Parry Sound Ontario. Prior to my career in Education, I was employed in various professional capacities in the Chemical Industry including the following; Research & Development, Instrumental Analysis, Quality Control, Assay Chemist, and Chemical Plant Management.
I have been increasingly concerned about how this country has been governed over the last few years under the Trudeau government. Some of my specific concerns that I have with the Trudeau government include; the lack of border security in general and specifically during the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, the failed, inept response to the COVID 19 pandemic (allowing COVID 19 infected flights from known COVID 19 hotspots), the sky rocketing Federal debt, its increasingly authoritarian nature, lack of transparency and increasing censorship of thought and expression. It is for these reasons that I decided to become politically active and do my part to change the direction the current regime is taking this country. After carefully reviewing the policies and leadership of the People’s Party of Canada, I found that they were in complete agreement with my values and beliefs. The primary aim of Canada’s immigration policy should be to economically benefit Canadians and Canada as a whole. It should not be used to forcibly change the cultural character and social fabric of our country. It should not put excessive financial burdens on the shoulders of Canadians in the pursuit of humanitarian goals.
I am personally opposed to the Official policy of Multiculturalism. It encourages immigrants to keep the values and culture they left behind instead of integrating into Canadian society and adopting Canadian values and culture. In a free society, immigrants have the right to cherish and maintain their cultural heritage, but not at the expense of taxpayers.
The private sector (especially small and medium sized businesses) is the key to creating wealth in Canada. The business climate must be attractive to investors or they will look elsewhere to invest. Since 2015, business investment has gone down not only in the oil and gas sector, but in many other sectors as well. We are overtaxed and over-regulated in this country. Canada is also attracting less foreign direct investment. More government intervention in the economy is not the answer to our economic challenges.
I believe that the exclusive priority of the government of Canada on the international scene should be to manage our relations with other countries in order to protect and further the interests of Canadians. I am totally opposed to the weakening of national sovereignty and the increasing trend towards one World Government.
However, despite this group being exceptionally law abiding and the most highly vetted segment in the Canadian population, the existing firearms legislation unfairly targets them. Instead of targeting people who legally own firearms, the government should be dealing swiftly and harshly with those that possess them illegally and use them in the commission of criminal offences. I am totally opposed to the “Hug a Thug” approach to crime & punishment of the current Liberal regime.
I joined the People’s Party of Canada not long after it was formed, and became the Vice President of the Parry Sound-Muskoka Electoral Association in November 2020. I decided to submit my name for consideration as a candidate for the next Federal election and was acclaimed the official candidate.
I believe that The People’s Party of Canada is the only true conservative party in Canada that has policies that would resonate with many other Canadians who are also increasingly alarmed at the direction that the current Liberal regime is taking this country. The PPC pillars/principles are universally Canadian values, not woke or leftist.
